Getting caught up, MBF-P03 Gundam Astray Blue Frame and ASW-G-11 Gundam Gusion

During a recent vacation to spend sometime and celebrate a couple of birthdays with H’s parents, I was able to finish major construction on a couple of builds.

MBF-P03 Gundam Astray Blue Frame

The first of the two builds is the MBF-P03 Gundam Astray Blue Frame from the manga series Gundam SEED Astray, which is a side story to MSG SEED. The design of the Blue Frame, unlike most mobile suits, it lightly armored. Using it’s maneuverability to make up for the lack of armor.

The Build –

The kit was an easy build for the most part. The overall design of the kit is a little dated, being from 2003, but still has some nice features, including very while designed shoulder joint.

ASW-G-11 Gundam Gusion

For my second build, I built the ASW-G-11 Gundam Gusion from the anime MSG: Iron-Blooded Orphans and is piloted by Kudal Cadel of the space pirate group called the Brewers. The Gundam Gusion is one of the 72 Gundam Frames from the ‘Calamity War’ and is only one of 26 frames remaining. Unlike most mobile suits that use beam based weapons, the Gusion’s primary weapon is a 15+ ton hammer. Also, the Gusion is not overly colorful and does not have the V-fin associated with most Gundams.

The Build –

The building of Gusion was actually quite easy with next to no mold lines. As for seam lines were easily removed, with the toughest one being on the hammer. I did end up hand painting the torso mounted cannons, to add a little detail.

Finial Thoughts –

Gundam Astray Blue Frame & Gundam Gushion
Gundam Astray Blue Frame & Gundam Gushion

The Gundam Blue Frame and the Gundam Gushion are almost polar opposites of each other. The Gundam Blue Frame is lightly armored, highly maneuverable and heavily armed with the 500mm recoilless rifle. The Gusion is heavily armored, not as maneuverable, relies primarily on its hammer to destroy its enemies. I think in a weird way that is why I took these two kits with me on vacation.

I am planning on going a little old school and building the OZ-00MS Tallgeese from the first Gundam series to really take root in the United States, MS Gundam Wing.
